I think film is perhaps the most powerful art form. It encompasses dance, painting, sculpture, writing, photography, etc. Similar to painters, cinematographers explore emotions through composition - sculpting with light and shadow, deciding what is revealed and what is obscured.
I am always searching for the images that capture the story. Reading a script evokes these images, which I then strive to give shape to."
Jakob has been using photography as his artistic medium for over a decade. He studied documentary and art photography at The International Center of Photography in Manhattan and later received his masters degree from the American Film Institute's cinematography program. He most recently was invited to join the DFF (The Dansk Filmfotograf Forbund or Danish Society of Cinematographers) .
